M.W.S Bris

Today was the bris for our sweet little peanut Maxwell (Asher ben Haim).  It was a beautiful ceremony and went better than I could have expected.  Lots of people came to show their love for Max and to meet him for the first time.  Max was a trooper and didn't even make a peep. 

This is my favorite picture.  Both Grandpa Bill and Papa Gary are smiling about something.  I can only imagine what joke was told at this crucial moment of the procedure.

Park Time!

The weather has been so amazing we've been getting the three kids out to some area parks.  It lets the girls burn off energy but also allows us to take Max out without having to worry about other people and germs. 

Mommy's first trip out with THREE kids!   Max is only 2 weeks old!  I told the girls to pick a park and they chose Summerlake in tigard.  We played on the new play structure, fed the ducks and geese, were then followed and chased by the not afraid of humans ducks and geese, and walked around the trails checking out the rose garden, 2nd playground, and dog park.

2 weeks old

2 Week Check Up

You can see he still has bruising under his eyes.  Should go away soon.  The dot on his nose is not a freckle.  The poor guy has sharp names and just grabs at his face whenever he gets a chance.  I call him Maxwell scissor hands.

Jaundice is slowing working it's way out of Max's system.  He is up to 5lbs 4oz now.

Preemie Comparison

I had special dolls made that were the exact size and weight of the girls when they were born.  Not dolls to play with but to remember just how tiny they were.  Since Max was the size of the girls when they came home after their two month stay in the NICU I decided to see how he being 5 weeks early compared to those dolls that were 14 weeks early.  Max in these photos is a little more than a week old.  I wish I would have included a ruler to show the scale.  The girls were just under 14" long but it is hard to tell in these photos.   Max also had jaundice and was still really red in these photos.  At birth he had Polycythemia which is an abnormal number of red blood cells that makes babies look more ruddy and red. 

People also always ask who he looks like.  Seems like it changes every day especially as he gets older but I check out this comparison to E&E.  Definitely related.

After a day home Max still had a bad case of jaundice so we had to put him under the bili lights for a few days.  Poor guy was strapped to the light for 48 hours straight.  But it kept him from going back to the hospital!

Didn't expect a preemie so all his Newborn clothes are still huge on him!
