Swim Time

The girls have been in swimming lessons off and on since about a year and a half.  I've said before I'm not expecting the next Ryan Lochte or Michael Phelps but I think it's important that if you are ever having your kids around water (pools, lakes, etc) that they know about water safety.  I could care less about teaching them to swim the butterfly stroke but I absolutely want them to know what to do if they fall in and simple basic rules about water.   Especially since we have a yard perfect for a pool.  Maybe down the road we will install one but for now we have temporary pools and this year plan to have a much larger one so that they can actually swim around (and mommy can float on an air mattress with a drink in her hand).

We are back at our favorite swim school.  Children of the Sea.  Ellery is in a class that actually swims in lanes while Emily is still perfecting some of her kicks, and roll overs.  Hopefully in the next session or two she will be back in the same class as Ellery.

These pictures are from the last class of the session called Boat Safety Day.  They get to wear life jackets, learn what to do if you fall out of a boat, and what to do if you and your buddies are all in the water in life jackets and need help.

and there they go....

When you and your friends fall out of a boat or need help in a lake you should float on your back and all grab the buddy strap at the top of the jacket.
