My First Weekend Away

Last weekend Andy and I took the weekend off as parents and went to Lincoln City. It was the very first time I've left the girls even for 1 night. It was AMAZING! We did whatever we wanted, when we wanted. Stayed up late knowing we weren't going to get our usual 5:45 wake up call, I shopped for 4 hours and didn't have to hurry home, I read two books, Andy played in a poker tournament for 5 hours and WON! It was great!! The weather was better than I could have expected. Much nicer than it was in Portland which was strange. We stayed at the Surftides which I had been to before as a kid and as soon as I saw the dome over their outdoor pool the childhood memories came back. I can honestly say though, that I was not in a place where I was ready to leave my babies until right before this trip. I'm so glad I waited until I was ready and did it on my own terms. We have an 8 day cruise coming up at the end of the year so I think by finalizing those arrangements I realized I better get some mini vacations scheduled so that the 8 days would be a little easier to bear.

On our last morning Andy kept telling me to look outside. He was acting somewhat suspicious so I said "what did you write something in the sand?". Yes...that is exactly what he did. Surprised ruined...oops! I didn't get a great pic but the middle of the pic says Andy + Heather which is our tradition to write in the sand when we go to the beach. Yep just like the other 100 million people that do the same thing.
