Well, I didn't go anywhere so I don't have a good excuse for why I haven't updated the blog in a few weeks. I think this is the longest I've gone. Honestly the girls are keeping us busy with all the crawling, standing, falling...it's a lot of work to chase after two little ones. I can't even imagine how lil' miss octuplets + 6 will handle it. (Don't even get me started on her!!!!!!) I'm sure it's going to be more difficult with our girls before it gets better - but it sure is fun! I've got some great pics and videos to post, but those won't be up until the weekend.
Today we took Emily to get another echo and visit the cardiologist at Doernbecher. This was a follow up to our visits in October when they confirmed that Emily's heart murmur was because her PDA opened back up (orginal post in oct 08). She did great at the echo today, she held still "enough" for the tech to get what he needed. Andy distracted her with some toys and we eventually just gave her a bottle which was the real winner. She just watched the tech the entire time and never once cracked a smile. She's so funny...she is a very happy and smiley baby but as soon as someone new is around she will just look you in the eye and give you a stare down. I used to think she didn't like me when I first brought her home or that somehow I wasn't good enough. Now I know that neither are true, but this girl definitely gives some 'tude to new people. After the echo we went to visit the Dr Armsby and she told us that the murmur was because of the PDA. I had to remind her that we already had that conversation in Oct and the reason we were there was to figure out if we needed to schedule the procedure to fix it. Because Emily is doing so well and not showing any heart or lung difficulty due to the PDA the Dr suggested we come back in another year. At that point we'll check on the PDA and potentially have the procedure to close it. Works for me!!
The girls finally went back to daycare this week after their 3 1/2 week bout with RSV. I figured out in the months of Dec and Jan we only made it to daycare 4 days. Now, the weather and a little apprehension on my part was also included in the sick days, but still! They had a great day and surprised all their teachers by how fast they could crawl and by how much Ellery is standing. She officially found the 1 1/2 foot tall sink and figured out how to turn the water on. Fun for her...but her poor clothes are going to suffer. :)
The girls' big day is also rapidly approaching. They are going to be 1 year old in just 11 days. This is bringing up a lot of memories and emotions for me. Actually it's the same stuff I think about every single day but as we get closer to the actual day the events happened it's getting much harder. I'm already starting to remember things I was doing a year ago at this time. It's only going to get worse next week. I went from being a normal pregnant person on Wednesday to having tiny critical little babies on Saturday. I'd like to say my anger, questions, and frustration have gotten better with time....but I don't really believe that. The girls are doing wonderfully and that really helps. And they are so dang cute....that helps too. :)
