The trusses were set inplace by this crane.

This is the new retaining wall. Also know as the wall that came down when the dump truck flipped over on it.

They couldn't get the truck close to the retaining wall so six men carried over 1000 - 2.5gal buckets from the truck to the wall to fill it in. Luckily...Andy didn't have to partake in that fun activity!

Bye, Bye, Backhoe

Well it's official, the backhoe was sold yesterday. Andy decided it was time for her to go since she is 29 and getting to be that age when things start going downhill and falling apart. He called me at 10:00am and asked me to list the backhoe on craigslist and by 2:00 he had the cash in hand and was waiving goodbye. For what started out as a random purchase she actually was put to good use and saved us a lot of time, money, & frustration. We are a little sad to see her go. But have no fear.....Andy already has plans for his next "toy" to help in the construction process.

If you remember from previous posts, the retaining wall forms were destroyed when the dump truck fell on them the day the concrete was supposed to be poured. We waited a while to have them re-done so the framers could get started, but we now need it so the posts for the front porch can be built.
