House progress

Most of my updates have been about the garage...but things are still moving on the house. We are probably about 75% finished with the siding on the house. The batten board is going up now with cedar shingles soon to follow.

I've slowed down on my posts lately because aside from moving into the garage the only progress on the house has been the siding which is somewhat time consuming. Most of the house is sided, the only remaining areas are three stories up so we've rented a boom truck to make it easier to reach that height. Since we had the truck we also thought it was a good time to paint the garage. It only has one coat and we're still testing the trim colors, but it looks great. It's called Chestnut and we're using black and white as the trim colors.

Nope, that is not a skunk!

On Saturday as I was painting the trim in the bathroom Andy was using his nail gun that attaches to an air compressor outside. Apparently Chloe does not like the sound of the nail gun so she came into the bathroom with me and promptly backed up to my freshly painted OIL (read: does not come off easily) painted trim. She now has an additional white mark on her back. I am not sure if she was more scared of the nail gun or me shrieking "No, No, No, No......don't sit there" but she just ended up firmly planting herself on the floor in front of the trim and refused to move.

Yahoo...my internet was set up today! You'd think it had been longer than just 5 days, but I am so happy to have it! So, I don't want to embarrass myself by posting pics of our messy semi unpacked garage....but here are a few new pics from the house progress. The siding is moving right along, almost time for the worst part of the job. The three story high part. First up is the Tiger wood that just arrived- we'll be using this for the main floor deck. It's a pretty orange color with darker markings....similar to a Tiger (who would have guessed!).

I haven't posted in a few weeks, but we've been busy trying to get moved into the garage apartment. We finally spent our first night last Sunday and have been living there ever since. Everything is still in boxes, but I'm trying to get unpacked any chance I get. Hopefully by the end of this weekend we'll be all unpacked and organized.
